Breathing Techniques

Our first MOPS meeting is in just a few weeks.  I am anxiously waiting to see who is all going to show up.  This is a new year, a year filled with thriving friendships, stronger communities and deeper connections. This year, we are going to challenge you to take the Plunge into new territory!  We will be sorting through all areas of our lives, plunging into peacefulness and rest and purging all unnecessary clutter.

In lieu of our theme focusing on water I found an interesting connection between learning how to swim and surviving motherhood. One of the biggest challenges in learning how to swim is developing a good breathing technique.  Problems with breathing can carry over into other parts of your stroke.  Many times, swimmers will have problems with their stroke and be totally unaware that their breathing is the cause.  How often do we find ourselves in utter disarray, blaming it on everything else when in reality the problem is that we have neglected to breath.  We have neglected to take care of our own bodies.  This years MOPS motto is "Better Moms Make a Better World".  Ladies! We are worth it!  We are worth that coffee break with a friend, a play date at the park, a night out, and a card letting you know we care.  Motherhood is hard enough, we shouldn't have to do it alone.

Jesus understood community.  He thrived when he was surrounded by those who loved him.  We were meant to do life together.   God has given us a limited number of days here in this world, and he uses every single one of them to help us become more like Him.  So get ready, put your goggles on and meet me at the Pool!  We are about to take the PLUNGE!

"On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, "If anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink.  Whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'" John 7:37-38
